Walkers are (IMO) among the most difficult and fascinating of Lego robotics
projects. A very simple walking mechanism I built is pictured at
http://www.wordsmithdigital.com/mindstorms/6-legged.htm , but you should
also look at Jin Sato's similar-but-better design (with instructions in
English) at
http://www.mi-ra-i.com/JinSato/MindStorms/Numon/MushiMushi-4/index-e.html.
These can all be built with the basic RIS, I believe.
I have seen some more walkers that are pretty impressive (one
hugely-expensive pneumatic one comes to mind). Bert van Dam has some at
http://home.concepts.nl/~bvandam/ . There are some enviable ones at
http://www.astolfo.com/lego/mindstorms.asp . (There's a "creations" page
mentioned, but I can't seem to find it.
