I agree with your conclusion (separating 'driving' from 'navigating'), but
there is a slight difference between the RCX and Pathfinder: the latter had
videocameras, allowing it to see much further and also understand better the
environment. The RCX cannot really drive at full speed while communicating with
the PC...
Which brings up an idea: why not put a web-camera on the RCX? Hmmm, the
bandwidth needed is a killer, but just for testing it could carry a long wire
connected to the PC... interesting...
