Hi all,
I just got off of the phone with folks at Mindstorms Tech Support. I asked
if the RCX 1.0 could program the Micro Scout in its "P" mode - The answer was
"No, we think that the Scout will be set up to do that, but not the RCX."
Bummer. Apparently, the light sensor on the Micro Scout is not supposed to be
IR sensitive, only visible light sensitive. But then, so was the light sensor
on the Mindstorms kit... The fellow that I talked to seemed unaware that we
have been using the light sensor to pick up reflections from the IR transmitter
in the RCX for some time now - pshaw, he should be reading the NGs eh?
Regardless, the (guarded) answer was that the Scout (coming out soon) will be
equipped with software that will allow it to program the Micro Scout - but not
the RCX.
In an unrelated note, he agreed that R2D2 looks like it had a lobotomy
without the back half of his hemisphere... (My perpetual grouch I guess.)
