Does anyone know why rotation sensors and light sensors are nearly twice
as expensive at pitsco-dacta as they are at the lego world-shop? Just
curious...

Because Pitsco/Dacta sells into the education market where price inflation
is considered the norm.  I said this far more nicely than I was thinking it.

Actually, depending on what you are purchasing, Pitsco/Dacta is a lot cheaper
than S@H.  For example, axles & extenders from P/D is much cheaper than
getting the equivalent parts from S@H.  Same way with hubs & tires, large
gear wheels, and especially the bundles of parts like 100 pieces for $10,
which is by far the cheapest way to get bushings, small pulleys, connector
pegs, and 8t/14t gears.

On the other hand, white plates and beams are cheaper from S@H.  It pays to
compare.
