I have no idea what adaptive transmission is.

The synchro drive is a basically wheels that turn beneath the platform
of
the robot. Check out

for pictures. It allows you to make 90 degree turns, while the robot
maintains a fixed orientation.
tri-wheels are three wheels which operate as one, and can rotate around
to
climb over stuff that a single wheel wouldn't be able to get over.
