I long for the exciting days of Adaptive transmission, syncro drive and
tri-wheelers.
What are adaptive transmission, syncro drive and tri-wheelers?

I have no idea what adaptive transmission is.
Can anyone fill me in on it?

The synchro drive is a basically wheels that turn beneath the platform
of
the robot.  Check out
http://members.xoom.com/jknudsen/Synchronicity/Synchronicity.html
for pictures.  It allows you to make 90 degree turns, while the robot
maintains a fixed orientation.

tri-wheels are three wheels which operate as one, and can rotate around
to
climb over stuff that a single wheel wouldn't be able to get over.

What's AT-AT mean?

All-Terrain Armored Transport.
They're the big four-legged things on Hot in The Empire Strikes Back.

Later,
Blake.
