Re: RCX controlled GBC train drawbridge

(...) You'd need a hopper to store balls that arrive while the bridge is raised. You could probably rig a gate/door onto it that is open when the bridge is down and closed when the bridge is up. Or the entire hopper could tilt backwards with the (...) (18 years ago, 5-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

Re: HELP! NXT brick flash now read-only!!

(...) Juergen et al., Good news, everyone! The nightmare is over. :-) And I got to learn a few things in the process, too! Setting the security bit must have been what I did, although I don't specifically recall it...I do remember that, before I (...) (18 years ago, 5-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.nxt)

Re: Laser Tag on a Brick - Laser Tag with an RCX as the main part!

(...) Cross-posting this to lugnet. Excellent idea, except I don't actually know which brick you're talking about. Picture/order code anyone? If you're talking about those things that go over the lego lights and make them stupidly intense, I could (...) (18 years ago, 5-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics)

Event Report: LEGOPalooza, Morrhead Plaetarium, Chapel Hill, NC

Hi all, as announced previously, NCLUG was the host of LEGOPalooza this weekend at Morehead Planetarium. This year, the event was expanded to 2 days, and was earlier in the year compared to previous paloozas. This time, we had a Star Wars display (...)   Re: RCX controlled GBC train drawbridge

(...) Not yet... No train. In fact, all the train track is borrowed from Steve H and Steve's Mom. I've got track on order, but nothing else. Someday maybe I'll buy a train ;) (...) Actually factored that in. At the bottom it is 10-wide, but the top (...) (18 years ago, 5-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

Re: HELP! NXT brick flash now read-only!!

Hi Nathan, hi Ralph, (...) actually for the adventurous hardware hacker it might be possible to revive it using the ERASE pin. Though in this case, and if you are sure you didn't run the script for setting the security bit, I'd ask LEGO for a (...) (18 years ago, 4-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Laser Tag on a Brick - Laser Tag with an RCX as the main part!

(...) I now have one high power TX brick, which works very well now that I've fitted it with a not quite central muzzle. This means that IR can still get in and out (somewhat), but it is very concentrated IR! Long range + Muzzle works accurately (...) (18 years ago, 4-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Laser Tag on a Brick - Laser Tag with an RCX as the main part!

(...) The software I wrote is for the controlling PC. It uses SendMessage from the RCX, but the PC software is needed to interpret the messages from the RCX. The PC has to act as a base station! The PC can then generate scores etc. using a somewhat (...) (18 years ago, 4-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Laser Tag on a Brick - Laser Tag with an RCX as the main part!

(...) Why? If you need to send an IR message from the RCX, there's a command for that in NQC (SendMessage, IMS). (...) How directed is the pulse? "Laser tag", "flashlight tag", and "broad-beamed searchlight tag" are very different games, and I'm not (...) (18 years ago, 4-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics)

Laser Tag on a Brick - Laser Tag with an RCX as the main part!

Now, before you all laugh about this, I'm actually very serious. I don't know how many of you have ever played Laser Tag before, but basically you have a laser enabled gun that fires infrared light at other people. Completely harmless. How I got (...) (18 years ago, 4-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics)

RE: HELP! NXT brick flash now read-only!!

(...) It may be obvious, but: Holding the reset pin for a few seconds simply does a brick reset. Holding the reset pin for around 15 seconds is supposed to put the brick into SAMBA mode. You are doing the second I hope. And just to be safe, you've (...) (18 years ago, 4-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.nxt)

OK, everybody take a deep breath and slow down. first of all, the SAMBA version I'm using is 1.11, available here: (URL) And for anyone that's going to get busy hacking firmware, this is a great place to start: (URL) Yes, there is a script (...)   Re: HELP! NXT brick flash now read-only!!

(...) Nathan, What software did you use to load V1.04? It sounds like there is something in there that set the firmware to read-only after it loaded it. Can you find any settings like that in that software? Steve (18 years ago, 4-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.nxt)

HELP! NXT brick flash now read-only!!

All, Up until this point, I kept hearing that it was pretty much next to impossible to "brick" a brick. However, I think I've managed to be the first person to prove that it *can* be done (not that I'm proud of this fact :-( ). A few weeks back, I (...)   Re: RCX controlled GBC train drawbridge

(...) Very slick-looking John. It seems odd that one of the neatest attractions in the GBC may be only tangentially related to soccer balls, but that is a very nice design. I especially like the electrical cutouts at both ends. I have to ask, have (...) (18 years ago, 4-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.org.us.laflrc)

  RCX controlled GBC train drawbridge

I suppose this doesn't have to really be for the GBC only, but that was why I decided to build it. I've been playing with this idea since Brickfest '06 when Steve Hassenplug suggested a way to go in & out of the GBC area without crawling under the (...)   Controlling NXT with bluetooth input device 1/3

(URL) After watching the video-clip above I wanted to do that with my NXT. I didn't know how to do that. :( But, I did it after four days of trial and error. It cost me about $50 excluding the price of NXT. (teers) I searched on Nabble, Nxtasy, (...) (18 years ago, 1-Feb-07, to lugnet.robotics)
