It seems to me that the most efficient method of
expanding the capability of an RCX based robot
(barring opening the RCX) is to use the infrared
port to communicate to an external module.

This external module could be in the nature of
a micro-controller whose only job is to monitor
the ir port and respond to simple commands sent
to it by the RCX.

I personally would like to have something like:
16 open collector output lines and 16 TTL
compatible input lines.

Any thoughts?

My apologies to the LEGO purists. :)

Cheers,

Scott
