There is always a way.
You would need a very high gain amplifier to pick up the small amount of voltage
induced into the "wrapped" wire. If you are talking about LEGO motor wires, you
would need to separate the pair of wires and only wrap around one. After you
get the signal, you probably need to convert it into RMS or at least an average
for the RCX to read.
There are other ways to measure current. Shunts and Hall Effect sensors for
example.
What do you need the current measurement for?
