Hi  Jean-Marc,

Brian Bagnall's "Core Lego Mindstorms Programming" would be an excellent place
for you to start.  Learning how to program is always more fun when you have a
specific goal in mind, and this book gets you running without drowning you in
theory.  As the author himself admits, this is not a book to become an expert
Java programmer.  However, it does help you write little Java programs for the
RCX.  If your interest in Java is sufficiently piqued, you will probably move on
to other books and applications, and may just run across something that would
help make a killer bot.

Till recently I was interested only in the challenge of designing an algorithm
but not coding it in C++ or Java.  However, I found that the Mindstorms kit was
just the right thing to finally make me get my hands dirty.  Just keep at it and
I'm sure you will have hours of fun programming the RCX.

Play well!

N.
