Re: Back wheel construction advice —Steve Baker

You want the wheel to spin on the spot with minimum friction, so wouldn't you want to use a large pulley with a thin tire? ---...--- Steve Baker ---...--- HomeEmail: <sjbaker1@airmail.net> WorkEmail: <sjbaker@link.com> HomePage : (URL) : (...)         Re: Back wheel construction advice —Gus Jansson
(...) Sure, you can make a caster with the pulley wheel and thin tire though I think it is a little less elegant. For one thing, since the pulley wheel is only 1/2 unit wide, it will slop around unless you use a longer axle and bushings on the ends (...) (22 years ago, 18-Mar-03, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Back wheel construction advice —Dean Hystad
(...) A better idea yet is to use the pulley wheel without a tire. There is no need for traction in the caster. A hard plastic wheel allows the caster to act like a skid sometimes and minimizes the caster steer experienced when straightening out (...) (22 years ago, 18-Mar-03, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) They are sets of basic bricks (no motors) which let you build some interesting things. One is insects with long hinged legs (I think, hard to tell from the photos), there are two robot sets, one with a lot of cool looking blue bits (Eric?), (...)
