What I meant with the thread was to use the studs as channels for the thread and
tie them perpendicular to the shape of the conveyor piece, one thread on each
side.
[o|o#o|o] <--track piece, chain side, | = string, o = holes in conveyor link
[o&o o&o] <--track piece, conveyor side, & = knot in string, o = studs on 1x4
plate
I wouldn't do all the links if I didn't have to... Perhaps every 5th link and
then offset if using a multi-track setup, like this:
[o|o o|o][o o o o] [o|o o|o][o|o o|o]
[o o o o][o o o o] [o o o o][o o o o]
[o o o o][o|o o|o] [o o o o][o o o o]
[o o o o][o o o o] [o o o o][o o o o]
[o|o o|o][o o o o] or [o|o o|o][o|o o|o]
[o o o o][o o o o] [o o o o][o o o o]
[o o o o][o|o o|o] [o o o o][o o o o]
[o o o o][o o o o] [o o o o][o o o o]
[o|o o|o][o o o o] [o|o o|o][o|o o|o]
... or with 1x8's across multiple tracks... whatever suits the need, I'd
suppose.
Personally, I'll probably just buy a bunch of conveyor links and permanantly
glue 1x4 studded plates to the links and use them when I need to and call it a
day. I might even make some using 1x4 flat plates using glue.
