IMHO they are not worth the money. Mostly what you get is a set of new challenges to go into the mindstoms software and a constructopedia. You get some parts too - most notably the 'fiber optics' from the shuttle set comes in Extreme Creatures, & in (...) (26 years ago, 29-Dec-98, to lugnet.robotics)
