Dunno if any Lego fans out there have heard about this new 'MEETUP' internet service,
I went to a meeting that they arranged a couple of weeks ago on a different subject
and it was a great success.
The idea is that their web site suggests a day and a place in every major city in
the USA (and many countries outside the US) for a face-to-face meeting. The idea
is that you tell them if you are interested and if more than a half dozen people
sign up in your chosen city, the meeting goes ahead. Hence (in theory) hundreds
of similarly minded people all get to meet each other all across the country on
the same day. There is a better description of the mechanism on their site.
Hence, I thought I'd suggest an AFOL (Adult Fan Of Lego) topic for them...the
result is below. If someone who sees this post knows how to cross-post to other
AFOL mailing lists in some appropriate way, please do so.

You recently requested AFOL MEETUPs at meetup.com and I'm writing to let
you know that that topic is now live on our site.
I scheduled the first MEETUP for Tuesday, August 13 @ 8:00PM. Subsequent
MEETUPs are the 2nd Tuesday of every month.
Have a look at the AFOL MEETUP page:
_http://afol.meetup.com/
_Please help spread the word - let other people know about the AFOL
MEETUPs. Link to us yourself, point other people to our links page:
_http://afol.meetup.com/link.jsp
_Thanks for submitting a topic to meetup.com - I hope you can help me
get the word out to other fans so the MEETUPs get some momentum. If you
know of online communities, web sites and/or mailing lists where people
would want to hear about this, point me in the right direction. (Better
yet, pass the MEETUP info along to them directly!)
Best,
Jen
