I've been on this list for a couple of months now, and I've seen the questions
about which set(s) make a good complement to the RIS.  I purchased the Ultimate
Accessory set with my first RIS, but I've had a list of parts I still wanted
to have which did not come with either set.

Last week, I bought the Lego Technic Turbo Command set (8428), largely because
is included most of the parts I wanted.  It includes a complete rack and pinion
steering mechanism, another differential, a few two-holed 1x2 beams, a few
(single) holed 1x1 beams, three shock absorbers, as well as a nice collection
of axles and beams of varying sizes.  The parts that build a six-cylinder
engine (complete with camshaft and moving pistons) is pretty cool, too.

I built the car with the set, and haven't yet scavanged parts for a robotic
project, but I know I will at some point.  Mainly, I wanted to point this
set out and recommend it as a nice supplement to the RIS.  It is a little
pricey, at $59.99, but if you've already spent $100-$200 on an RIS, the
price might not seem so bad.

Enjoy,
Mark Little
