Cybermaster uses RF which has tighter restrictions in the US, though that
may or may not be the reason for its absence.
If you want something more advanced, I would try using either VB and
Spirit.OCX or NQC, or if you are *nix minded, there are interfaces for perl,
tcl, etc.

Or you could do a web search for a guy named Mark Tilden. He is a brilliant
roboticist that creates primarily insect-like robots from scratch - no
legos - that behave without any real programming in the way legos do - it's
more like he builds instincts into his robots at the hardware level - you
could also do a search for "Cybug" or cybugs - same thing, though I am not
sure that cybugs are from Mr. Tilden.

At any rate, I think the 'software' is the thing to look at 'upgrading' if
you want to do more advanced things, or, at the risk of getting flamed
myself, you could shun purity and use custom/non-lego parts, though I
wouldn't advise it unless you know a bit about electricity.

It's TLG's sandbox, they make the rules.

From what I've been able to gather, the Cybermaster doesn't appear to be
any more advanced than Mindstorms. In fact, it sounds as if Mindstorms has
a leg up (technically wise) on the Cybermaster.
