I found a module at http://www.jameco.com/cfm/viewdesc.cfm?part_num=126703 but
it appears to only have serial output.  The Dinsmore compass also seems to be
referenced frequently (http://dinsmoregroup.com/dico).

Someone (who has a Mindstorms homepage) made one with a cheap real compass,
and light sensor.  The compass was raised up a bit to prevent interference
with motors.  You will have to search the members page at Lego Mindstorms to
find it.
