  Re: Canadian price goof up...

Just ordered three. They fixed the price mistake just afterwards I guess. (25 years ago, 5-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: GPS

Vihung, Now that selective availability is off I routinely get 12-18 feet accuracy from my GPS. And, yes, the more satellites you've acquired and the more spread between those satellites the better your accuracy. Also notice that your relative (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Has the RIS 1.5 been discontinued??

I can't find the RIS 1.5 (or 1.0) anywhere anymore! Actually they all seemed to disappear in December 2000. All the stores that used to have quite a few RIS sets no have just the DDKs and a few RDSs. Is LEGO getting ready to release RIS 2.0? If this (...) (25 years ago, 5-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: GPS

(...) As a footnote: Notably, when SA is turned on, both GPS units must use the same satellites for this to work. (25 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: GPS

(...) First: That is not full military accuracy. As per (URL) provides two levels of service -- a Standard Positioning Service (SPS) for general public use and an encoded Precise Positioning Service (PPS) primarily intended for use by the Department (...)   proximity detection with laser?

The following idea just came into my mind. Will it work? Put a video camera and a laser projector on the mobile robot. The laser projector beams out a pattern of light. The camera picks up the pattern, then we deduce the robot's proximity by (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Ping Pong Ball Lobber

Hey! Competition time! I'm fairly new to the online LEGO community and regular competitions like this sound like a great idea. Glad you have the time to put into it. Cheers, Raoul (ICQ 17521252) (25 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: colleges && universities

I used legOS and the Mindstorms in CPS 196: Programming under Uncertainty here at Duke. The course web page is at (URL) Littman is unfortunately no longer in academics, so I'd ask you not to contact him, but I'm very happy to answer any questions (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: GPS

(...) Since some month the accuracy is about 12 -15 meters. (When I'm right, then there was an error added before to lower accuracy) (...) You get a better resolution if the signal of the aother satellites is better (a higher level) The (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: GPS

GPS requires a clear, unobstructed view of the satellites in the sky. Forget about using it indoors. Earthquake researches use sensors that can detect movements of less than an inch. I don't know how they work, but it involves GPS to some extent. (...) (25 years ago, 4-Jan-01, to lugnet.robotics)
