Is there already any NQC code for *reading* VLL ?
I've adapted the libvll.nqc to work *also* with direct connections
(OUT port ->lego standard electrical wire-> IN port) using the Off() &
Float() mainly for CyberMaster<->RCX comms
[Note: By mistake, one time I used the On() & Float() combination, and
nothing bad happened to the IN port of my CyberMaster... err.. at least
that I've noticed.]
Until now, all my work's based on a *single* CyberMaster. All I'm doing is
testing "communication" between itself: one Task sending signals through
OUT and the other Task receiving it through IN port. This is not the best
way, of course, but, that's what I've got. I'm hoping to get a RCX soon.
My ultimate goal is to optimize and extend libvll.nqc to provide VLL
*input* capability on top of the *output* one.
Instead of creating a custom serial protocol for comms between CyberMaster
and other pBricks, I thought of giving a try at using the standard VLL
protocol.
Before doing this (if I'll ever get the time for it) I'd like to know if
anyone else has already done this VLL *input* thing :)
thxs,

| (...) Progress report: I decided to completly redo the Shigeru Makino's (mac@research.co.jp) libvll.nqc approach. My pBrick Serial Comms lib will not calculate the 3 bit checksum in real-time. It's cpu time consuming. I think it's faster to have'm (...) (24 years ago, 15-Dec-00, to lugnet.robotics)
