I have received so much good information by lurking in the LUGNET community,
I am finally giving something back. I am pleased to announce both the
launch of BrickBots.Com ( http://brickbots.com ) and the start of our first
contest, the Aluminum Can Stacking competition.
BrickBots.Com is designed to host Lego Robotics contests. All contest
proposals are welcome, the site will manage the contest flow, accept entries
with pictures and source code, and notify interested individuals of the
outcome. There is also a section of links to other robotics contests and
related information.
Our first contest is the Aluminum Can Stacking Contest (
http://brickbots.com/currentview.asp?cid=9 ) . Design a robot to build a
stack of aluminum cans as high as possible. Since this is the first
official BrickBots contest, a prize seemed in order. To the winner goes one
Ultimate Robotics Accessory Kit. Better get building, but see the web site
first for complete rules.
A second contest has been proposed and is accepting suggestions until the
start date. You can register to be emailed when new contests start.
I hope that BrickBots.Com will become a good repository of building
challenges and solutions. If you know of any current or past robotics (Lego
or otherwise) contests, please stop by and add to our database of links.
