The standard way for doing this is to use variable 0 on the RCX. Te
robot can set it to a specific valu when it needs something. The PC can
use the SetEvent command and the VariableChange event handler to check
whether the variable changes.

Has anyone developed any applications that allow the RCX to communicate
back to your PC via the IR tower, analogous to the way two RCXs can
communicate with each other. This would be useful to allow the robot to
return to the IR tower for "new instructions".
