I have successfully trained my Sony Integrated Remote Commander RM-AV2000
(retails for $120) with the $20 remote from Lego. I have not tested
training the remote from the IR tower, but I'm sure it would work. I'm also
sure you could train any generic universal remote :) I'm not sure everyone
wants a $120 remote with a touch pad.
