Few have responded to my call for help.  Maybe the following information
will help.

1) When the light sensor is connected to the input #2, the value read is
between 525 and 528,

2) When no sensor is connected to input #2, the values jump to 1020-1022.

3) The batteries are brand new.

4) I've been reloading the firmware and it still won't work.

5) I've connected the light sensor to another RCX brick and everything works
fine.  (however, I need both bricks working for my project)

Somehow, it looks like the RCX thinks it has three inputs for a touch
sensor.  Light sensor values should be between 0-155.  Can anyone out there
please tell me how to get it back to normal?

Thanks!

Subject: Problems with Light Sensor

Hey all!

Of course this happens to me 2 days before my final project is due.

One of my RCX bricks refuses to work the light sensor.  I know it is not a
problem with the sensor itself because I have tried it on the other RCX and
the light sensor shines its red light.  Also, when I view what is coming
into the sensor I get values from 0-155 on the working brick and values in
the 300's on the other one.  What could be wrong?

I've keep downloading the firmware and everything, yet it still will not
work.  Please help!

Thanks.

(...) This is quite normal. If you configure input one on a normal RCX as a light sensor, but don't connect a sensor, you get raw readings of 1022 - 1023. (...) That's RAW, isn't it? Hope this helps ... Simon (25 years ago, 1-Apr-00, to lugnet.robotics)
