It is meant to receive AC. The 'proper' supply, is 10vAC, 0.7A. It has a
rectification bridge inside the unit. There is a 'potential' problem with
using DC, if you use a supply with a higher current capability than the Lego
unit, in that all the power goes through just two diodes of the rectification
bridge, increasing the chance of failure.

That sounds about right. In fact the motors are very powerful, relative to the
strength (for instance) of the gears, and you can strip the teeth off a
pinion, at about 180mA, on the normal 'geared' motor. So long as you are not
loading the motors heavily, many people have been succesful using two on one
port.

| Hi, Did anyone know the answer to what the polarity is for the power supply connector for the RCX that comes with the RISv1.0? Also, does anyone know what the amperage limits are for the motor output ports? Can one safely connect two motors to a (...) (25 years ago, 16-Feb-00, to lugnet.robotics)
