Re: I didn't know this part existed (was Re: 8009 R2D2)

(...) They're pretty rare, though I have a few now. Nowhere near as many as I have of the toothed variety. (...) Great idea! Those axle joiners & liftarms in the artoo set are probably candidates. Whadya reckon, TJ? Maybe just "neat part" (a la (...) (23 years ago, 11-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)

Part of the week (Re: I didn't know this part existed)

In lugnet.reviews, Steven Lane writes: <snip> (...) That's a great idea. I'm in the same position as I usually buy only a select few of the new Technic sets. I've implemented the POTW on the Technic front page. Let me know what you think. I've (...) (23 years ago, 11-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)

I didn't know this part existed (was Re: 8009 R2D2)

Sorting through a recent consignment of Lego I bought on Ebay, I found a part I didn't know existed. (URL) think I'll try Peeron first now after Jennifer brought it to my attention) The 'Technic Connector Toggle Joint Smooth' looks just lke a (...) My typo :-) I have loads of these in grey and black, but it was the red ones in particular I've been looking for for ages. The (...) (23 years ago, 11-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8009 R2D2

(...) And did anyone notice the intentional (yeah, right) mistake?? Of course, they're 12t bevel gears. ROSCO (23 years ago, 11-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8009 R2D2

(...) There are heaps of these in some of the star wars sets - the ones with the little service vehicles (x-wing comes to mind), but I don't think I've seen red ones before (and definitely not trans dark blue!) - mostly black. (...) Mine also had 2 (...) (23 years ago, 10-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8009 R2D2

(...) Perhaps one must be a gear head to like this model? I took one look at the box and decided it was so ugly I wasn't going to buy it. Yuck. (23 years ago, 10-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8009 R2D2

(...) Yes, extremely useful, IMO. The set comes with quite a few of them (see Peeron inventory) in white, gray, and dark blue. (...) The set should come with one in translucent blue and another in solid red (for R2's "I'm gonna zap ya" mean look). (...) (23 years ago, 10-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)

  Re: 8009 R2D2

(...) There is a full inventory at www.peeron.com: (URL) interesting is the "Technic Axle Joiner Perpendicular Double Split" and the "Boat 2 x 2 Stud" which I've never seen elsewhere, is not needed in the set and is a part I've been looking for for (...)   Re: 8009 R2D2

(...) 2L long liftarm? That could be useful. Can anyone take a picture so we can see what it looks like? Steve (who thinks that R2D2 looks weird with the one eye and no head) (23 years ago, 10-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)

  8009 R2D2

I just built this, and although you non-Technic AFOLs will say it doesn't really look special, the mechanism for changing between 2 & 3 "feet" has restored my faith in the LEGO Technic designers. It's another of those oh, so simple but pretty much (...) (23 years ago, 10-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews, lugnet.technic)

Re: Review of 3739: Blacksmith Shop

(...) Really? I had a spare flower stem, too. (...) Good set, yes. There are a few things about it, however, that I would have liked TLC to have done differently. . . The Windows: When Dan Siskind first designed it, I imagine that only red windows (...) (23 years ago, 4-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: Review of 3739: Blacksmith Shop

Re: Review of 3739: Blacksmith Shop

(...) Check step # 18 - you are supposed to use three corner plates on the corners, and I used four. That's how *I* would up a 2x2 corner plate short. Let me know if that's the case ... -- Pawel (URL) (23 years ago, 4-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: Review of 3739: Blacksmith Shop

(...) I built this set between Superbowl commercials, and WOW, what a great set! I tend to be a somewhat inept builder, and what bothers me about many sets is how the instructions will have you put a plate here, a brick there, with no apparent (...) (23 years ago, 4-Feb-02, to lugnet.reviews)

Re: Review of 3739: Blacksmith Shop

(...) I noticed one error in the instructions. In step 29, the right hand chimney's red and blue cylinders are swapped. I made a couple boo-boos and wound up with a black 1x3 plate when I needed a black 2x2 corner plate. This was quickly resolved (...) (23 years ago, 30-Jan-02, to lugnet.reviews)

  6080 and 6074, modularity

As a kid I remember trawling through Lego booklets counting the different sets I REALLY wanted. There were always these big big castles that I wished I had, but I never actually got.
