Small Set of 61 elements for approx. $10 USD

Interesting bits: two trans-red windshields (upper and lower halves), one
1x2 light grey 1/2 pyramid slope, two 1x2 black technic bricks with centered
hole, two 1x6 black technic bricks, trans-red 1x2 panel with printing of
shark on a radar screen, two strange red wheels/rotor housings, two
trans-antifreeze gems, one trans-antifreeze spear, one 2x2 trans-antifreeze
rocket engine, two black bionickle claws, four black three part segmented
dinosaur tails (as found in blue in T-Rex #6720).

Weighing in at 61 elements, you can well imagine there's not much building
going on here, the thing practically builds itself.  The squid arms are cool
and I am glad to have them for making horns and tails but I am not sure why
there are not ten arms here (it's a squid right? mutant or not...).  Anyway,
Ogel's cockpit has almost no interior equipment and barely anywhere to sit
-- the interior is more of a sketch than a finished idea.  You'll have to
see it to believe me -- there's just nothing there! The trans-red canopy in
two halves doesn't create a fully enclosed cockpit as either side has a very
large opening -- so this is a canopy of the drowning in water/suffocating in
space variety.  I think I must also complain that the canopy doesn't hinge,
and must be pulled apart instead.  The parts that do hinge would be the
Bionickle claws, hinged so as to enclose the trans-antifreeze spear.  Cool
idea -- terrible execution. Exactly what I expected from the now ruined for
2002 Alpha Team line.

Use the intended set design as the jumping off point for something FAR more
interesting. Buy it for the elements only. Buy it on sale only (BOGO 50% or
better).

I think I can only give this mess a 4 of 10.  It looks cool from a distance,
but get too close and you will realize it's ****. Kinda pricey for 61
elements too. I think I could have been happier with this set if it had come
with more tentacles, an enclosed and hinged canopy, and some kind of
equipment in the cockpit -- something, anything...

Sorry Folks, I found that I have three things to add to my previous comments surrounding this set: 1. First, you should take a look at this HUGE (approx. 650K, wait for it) picture I just posted to Brickshelf: (URL) there on the far right. 2. When (...) (23 years ago, 7-Dec-01, to lugnet.reviews)
