Bike Burner
TECHNIC: Speed Slammers
60 pieces, $8.99 CDN
PARTS:
A good value. Some of the more interesting parts are two green 3-long
flex-tube things, two green 2x4 peg right-angled beams, two green 4x4 peg
obtuse-angled beams, two green 3x5 peg curved panels (Znap?), and two grey 3x3
peg curved panels. You also get a good assortment of regular parts, like axles
of various lengths, friction pegs, axle pegs, etc. And Throwbot feet.

MODELS:
This small set has five official models, and many other possibilities. There
are instructions for the main models and two other models- a dragster bike and
a comact, go-kartish bike. All three models use the same back wheel
assembly, so they are all launchable. There are also two 'challenge'
models--another easy compact vehicle and a more challenging two-wheeled
motorcycle. The motorcycle is awesome, I like it a bit better than the main
model. You can also add a speed computer to the main model. I'm
impressed with the number of models featured and the possibilities for this
set.

PLAYABILITY:
Okay, this thing has almost zero function on its own. No gears, no elastic
bands, no springs or levers or anything else you might expect from Technic.
But its not boring. It's really quite fun. The wheels spin very nicely, and
the bike makes a nice sound as it rolls. The handlebars are attached with a
special long friction peg, making steering the bike very easy and fun. And
when I get a Speed Slammer launcher, it will work with it. Another fun feature
of this theme is the modular building system allows different Speed Slammer
vehicles to be combined. While not very Technic-al, it it a lot of fun.
