I discovered this set in Toys R Us last month and was pleased to see the new
themes had again began ot appear before the official release date.  I paid $9
CAN for it (around $6.20 USA).  There is a lot of things I like about this set.
First, you build a small aircraft.  Its simple, but it doesn't look that bad.
The minifig is cool, and it is just a nice, playable model. There is a very
useful piece you don't see- a light grey, 1x2 brick with a cross-shaped hole
in the middle. Also included is a pteranodon nest.  Also nice, and build up
with basic bricks in green and brown. No BURP-like structre at all.  The plants
are of the older, more common variety, but they're still okay.  The Pteranodon
itself is cool, although we may get tired of it as it is the only dinosaur you
can get with a medium sized set. My only real complaint is the name- "Research
Glider".  First of all, this is no research craft.  Instead of the standard
research equipment of a few cameras, notebooks, walkie-talkies and other
non-interfering stuff, the only accessory is a chain (which is the rare if not
new light grey) looped around a stick.  I don't really care about the ethics of
dinosaur capturing, but this really blongs on Peter Ludlow's hunting team
rather than the research group.  I'm not really who the minifig is supposed to
be from the movie, maybe Dieter Stark, the hunter who the compys eat.  And the
thing doesn't glide, its powered by a propellor in the back.  The name "Capture
Plane" could be more appropriate.  But the name doesn't really affect the
playability of this great inexpensive model.  Likely the best current model in
its price category.  I was able to build several good alternates.  I made a
simple but effective Dinosaur Saddle, allowing the figure to ride the
Pteranodon like in the Dinotopia books.  I attached the chain to the hinge,
allowing it to tighten around the dinosaur when the hinge was pulled back.  I
also built a statue of a somewhat dinosaur-like figure.  There is a lot to do
with this set.
