Super mini quick review of Football sets 3403, 3408, and 3409

I just picked up the new Football sets 3403, 3408, and 3409! I haven't built
them yet, so this is just a mini-review of what you get in each one.
3403 Fan's Grandstand (name from receipt) $14.99
3 minifigs (green player #10 w/smiley face, plain red torso w/beard &
mustache face, black leather jacket torso with Gail Storm face)
Other interesting parts:
- 2 black 1x8 plate w/sliding door track
- 2 white 6x8 extreme low slope
- stickers for 8x8 extreme low slope
(Technic and LEGO Football logos, structural
pattern part of which looks like Star Wars
laser cannon!)
- score tags
- 1 soccer ball
- 4 ea blue and yellow chairs
3408 Super Sport Coverage (name from receipt) $29.99
5 minifigs (red player #9 w/goatee face, RESQ torso w/microphone face, white
shirt torso w/lipstick and eyelashes face, white TV torso w/messy red hair
face, black police torso w/sunglasses face)
Other interesting parts:
- trans lt blue 1x2x2 thinwall w/X-Ray printing of broken leg
- 4 yellow chairs, 4 blue, 1 red
- 2 white 1x2x3 train window (no glass)
- yellow 2x2 tile w/SHOP & <<< arrow
- yellow 2x2 tile w/X-RAY & >>> arrow
- blue crane housing
- grey crane extender
- black cherry picker basket
- lots of blue 1x2x3 extreme slopes
- 1 soccer ball
- trans lt blue 3x4x4 inverse slope canopy
- 2 white 2x2 medium slope w/old style computer printing
The structure of this set has 1 seating unit with 2 seats up front, and a
box w/4 seats above the shop, a seating unit w/2 seats up front, X-RAY room,
announcer boot above, TV Cherry Picker on roof, the center piece (which uses
the 1x2x3 train windows) is an entry with 2 ticket booths and a turnstile
(one problem, there is just a single turnstile but two lanes, which doesn't
work quite right...
3409 Championship CHallenge (name from receipt) $49.99
12 minifigs! (red players #2, #3, #7, #9, #10, green players #2, #3, #7, #9,
#10, blue torso w/scale armor and #1 on back, dk grey torso w/scale armor
and #1 on back) The two teams are clones! (faces are moustache, 3 smiley,
freckles w/red headband, stubble w/wild red hair [head from the orange Rock
Raiders fellow], hair is 2 brown, 1 black, 1 tan, 1 bald).
Other interesting parts:
- 4 soccer balls
- 1 adidas soccer ball
- lots of green 2x2 tiles
- 12 green 8x16 Field Unit Bricks (FUBs)
- 2 green 8x16 super bricks
- many grey 2x10 bricks
- 4 white 2x2x2 steep slope (aka minifig dress)
- many white 2x6x2 winscreen
- 2 8x8 knotted nets
- 20 stickers for whinscreens (2 ea of LEGO Football, Mindstorms, Technic,
LEGO, Arctic, www.LEGO.com, LEGO Media, LEGOLAND; 4 ea adidas)
All three sets came with the same single sheet catalog (I was really hoping
to also be revealing the Adventurers and Mickey Mouse sets etc...). We will
be absolutely rolling in soccer balls... It looks like we only get 6
different players for each team (well 7 for the green team since 3401 comes
with green team #18, hopefully 3402 will come with red team #18). Hopefully
3410 will come with 2 new numbers for each team (3410 will consist of 2 ea
red and green players, 4 green 8x8 FUB, 6 green 2x2 tiles, 2 white 2x6x2
windscreen, 2 white 2x2x2 steep slope [and hopefully a different sticker
sheet]). It looks like 3402 will come with a yellow LEGO sticker like the
3403 stickers. It's interesting that they pre-printed the player numbers on
the back of the players. That must be a significant extra cost (and means
that so far there are 14 new torsos for the theme). It's also interesting
that they made two different FUBs.
