I have this set, and love it. It's not as good a value as the #2150
Train Station[1], even though they are the same price. Also, it is
fragile, even for LEGO.
So I guess I have to say: it's a really cool set, it has a lot of hard
(or impossible) to find parts, but it's not the first thing I'd
recommend to train newbies.
