I've had this set for about a month now and have incorporated over 90% of
the pieces into structures.  I think it is an excellent set with a lot of
special pieces.  I was annoyed with the excessive "bagging" of parts, but
this seems typical of all modern sets so I've accepted it.   I think that
the value is pretty decent as well

Most of them went into this model:

The blue, angled pieces went into this model (the blue one on the left):

I used some of the radar pieces and the yellow, angled supports on a
coast-guard building.

The orange vehicle pieces are still awaiting a home.  I tried using them on
my police station, but it looked funny to introduce a new color (currently,
its white and black with just a hint of yellow).

I have no use for the tracks and already have too many of them.

Ok I have to admit that I was looking forward to the arctic stuff when I • saw
the preliminary photos online last year. New colors are good, and I • basically
thought it was a "cool" idea, no pun intended.

I picked up #6575 yesterday at TRU, it appears to be selling briskly as • there
were a lot more of them on the shelves last week then there were when I
purchased. Here are my thoughts:

First the whole set is polybagged individually, meaning that each large
component is in a sealed bag with a photo on the outside with all the • pieces
in the standard perforated lego bags inside the photo bag. One large
instruction book has everything and as noted in a previous review from • someone
else there are lots of photos from real polar expeditions included.
The set has four large base modules, a helicopter, a tracked vehicle, and • a
snowmobile with a trailer/stretcher carrier. There are four minifigs and • two
polar bears.

My main interest was in the base modules, I see the possibility of using • their
components to build a large space base. Each module is made of large wall
pieces with a blue window and is mounted on a square white baseplate. • There is
a communications module with a radio/weather tower that has a ladder • outside
and sloped computer screen bricks as well as a new 2x4 window piece with a
good graphic decal.  The medical module has a sloped door with a pop out
window and a small medical station incorporating a sloped PC screen and a • new
flat tile with a graphic of a stethoscope and a clipboard on it. The HQ • module
has a large tower assembly (like on older Aquanauts stuff) made of a grey
bottom with a transparent blue top. Inside the tower are some sloped PC
screens as well as a transparent piece with a new decal and a tile that • looks
like a radar screen.
The lower part of the HQ tower has equipment racks for snowshoes and • backpacks.
The last module is for bringing in the ice rocks and examining them. It
incorporates a neat swinging door and a table with a magnifying glass on • it.
These are all made up of grey wall pieces with large blue slopes for • walls,
they will be useful for lots of other construction and there were several • new
graphic tiles used as well.

The tracked vehicle is like a truck with a cab and a tilting roof and an • open
back for transporting cargo. There is a cargo arm with a ball and clip
attachment, but it is barely long enough to reach the ground. The track
assembly uses 2x4 axles and treads, it rolls pretty well. Nothing I • noticed
was new other then orange bricks and slopes.

The helicopter is almost identical to the one in the large ResQ set from • last
year with a tilt open cockpit and a winch in the rear. It uses the new • skids
and incorporates several tool holders not used last year. Not much to get
excited about on this one.

The snowmobile is similar to the polybag #6626 except it travels on four • skis
and has a trailer hitch.

Overall I liked the whole set. Lots of new elements and colors, I could • think
of lots of other uses while I was building it and it was worth the $60.00.
Email me if you have any specific questions.
