Got these sets last night at TRU. They had all but the base 4990. The sets
came with a catalog with SW E1 on the cover (I haven't seen this one yet).
On to the sets...
Main colors are grey/dark grey, which will go well with my space crafts.
The cockpit on both are the same, which are special pieces. They have the
SW "toothed" hinges, the 4940 comes with yellow hinge pieces. "jr-ization"
can be seen in both, mainly in the cockpit with 4940, and with many elements
on 4950. 4950 comes with a 1 piece bottom which I can't stand, plus the
cockpit and most of the slopes which are "jr-ish". 4940 comes with a
useless drill and 4950 has the technic tractor "bucket". A chain operates
the bucket and I don't believe the chain was meant to be used this way. It
seems to be a little taller than a regular 1x1 plate, as the slope does not
fit on it right. Maybe my chain is defective? Over all the theme seems to
be pretty neat. The models look good, and the idea of rock raiders is
pretty cool. The pieces can be used in many ways with other pieces, mainly
SW in my case. The helicopter, a $50-ish model comes with 4 of those "foot"
pieces is next on my list. I got the 2 mid-sized models, and they have me
wanting the large ones, so overall I am not disappointed.

| How could I forget my biggest gripes? 1) Both sets came with the same minifig. With so few sets in a theme you would think they would all be original. Its okay. One of those ugly guys is now a rebel pilot. 2) Dear Lego, *PLEASE* lose BURPMAN!!! What (...) (25 years ago, 9-Jul-99, to lugnet.reviews)
