I just built my 4561 (4560 is the same set without the speed controller,
not available in the US, so now I have 23 extra speed controllers
instead of 22).
I hate it. Heck, my kids hate it.
I knew I would but didn't know how much. It's very juniorized. The loco
uses a 1 piece bottom, that is, the inverse sloped lower nose (with
headlights) is a single piece that extends all the way past the motor,
about 10 studs long.
The cars are tiny, even by minifig standards, they're like clown cars.
The one redeeming feature of the set is that it has the 2x6 medium slope
specialty piece (this piece has a 1x6 plate subtracted from the top of
what would be a normal 2x6 slope) in white. 12 of them to be exact.
But it also uses a new (to me) 4x6 double medium slope that is basically
a 2x4 brick with 2 2x4 medium slopes unioned to it that I feel is a
waste. 8 of them in white.
It also has 2 of the large depressed center wagon plates in black, but I
don't find those of much use
I may post a detailed review later, but for now, know that I am
underwhelmed by this set. The juniorization of train is in full swing.

| (...) Any idea of which countries 4561 will be available in? I certainly don't have much need of an extra controller (would probably just as soon buy a couple from Larry when I get a big enough table to need more than 2). (...) I think we may need (...) (25 years ago, 6-Jul-99, to lugnet.trains)

| (...) Oh dear. The cars were the one reason why I might have bought that set. (Apart from the big supply of clear windows in the carriages. How are the windows done?) I liked the fact that they had decent sized wheels - I hate those huge oversized (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jul-99, to lugnet.trains, lugnet.reviews)
