SPECIAL FEATURES/COMPATIBILITY
X Compatible with all Lego® brand building elements (except Galidor, much of
Technic and most Bionicle pieces) including bricks AND plates AND tiles
X This set should work with most clone brand building pieces but I can not
verify this fact
SET DESCRIPTION
This set consists of one large plastic wedge shaped lever. It is molded in
Classic Lego® green. It also comes in other colors (grey and orange) but the
original green is considered best by most collectors.
The set comes in a bag which holds all the elements. There are no building
instructions. At various times in the past, The Lego® Group has included this
set in many of their bulk brick buckets, abet not always in Classic green.
Both sides of the separating end of the element are used. The top of this set
can be placed on the bottom of bricks, plates and tiles while the bottom of the
set can be placed on the top of bricks and plates. The tip can also be wedged
between plates and tiles in order to pull them apart.
SPECIAL ELEMENTS
All parts in this set are technically special. A particularly clever feature of
the design is that the brick separator can also be used to separate plates and
tiles even. But the set is not called a Brick, Plate & Tile Separator so
this is a hidden feature of the set.
If you use two of these sets at the same time, they can be very helpful in
separating two or more plates (and even tiles from baseplates sometimes!) that
have too much clutching power. Just place one set 630 on the top and another
set 630 on the bottom and feel them easily pull apart.
As an added bonus, there are ergonomic strips at the base of the handle which
help you grip the set as you use it.
PLAYABILITY
Not very good. While I have seen some My Own Creations that have used this set,
generally speaking it really should just be considered a tool to help the
builder while using Lego® brand building elements.
IMPRESSION
I have used this set so many times while building both official Lego® sets and
MOCs that I have lost count. I honestly dont remember the last time I resorted
to fingernails or teeth to separate pieces that are stubbornly stuck together.
This set is an indispensable tool in the modern world of playing with Lego®
brand building elements.
CONCLUSION
The current MSRP in the U.S. is $1.69 USD. You will want 5 or 6 of this set
(particularly if you dont have fingernails or teeth) to have around everywhere
that you build with Lego®. Adults will love it but most kids will continue to
use their teeth to pull apart Lego® pieces.
I cant recommend this set enough. Someday, it will most likely be as
ubiquitous as the paper clip.
