SET DESCRIPTION

A realistic looking hood unit, using the BNSF color scheme of dark green,
orange, and yellow. It is modeled after a GP-38, but with modification, you can
change what you model with it, for example you could make a high nose in the
front, or add another axle to the wheelsets.
SPECIAL ELEMENTS

The colors, and the front 1x1x1 angled pieces in the set. You get 6 of them
orange, and 4 dark green. Also the control piece is new from my eyes, but the
last train locomotive I recieved was the Santa Fe Super Chief.

IMPRESSION
To me, I think this was another step in the right direction for Lego Trains. I
use my Lego Trains as an extremely kitbashed version of true Model Railroading.
I have built a table for my trains and I have a very operational layout, and I
also build the cities for it. I had the Santa Fe Train Set (In fact, I finally
ordered another 10022, so now I have all 3 cars. Does anyone else think the box
art changed?) and I also had the Frieght and Crane Railway plus Load and Haul RR
running around. I think Lego has done very well with this set, because it is so
realistic.
Building the set took a while however. It wasn't because of the instructions,
but rather I just got off a 3 hour flight back home. I thought that the
instructions were very good, and set up similar to the SF locomotive.
When I first saw the set though, I was not too pleased, I always thought Lego
should rather build a steam engine kit. After looking at it for a while, I
decided to order it, partly to get my order over 100 dollars.(I ordered a cross
track, 10022, and a few service items).

Set Rating
I think it was a very good set because there isnt much to complain about. I wish
Lego would release a book for us AFOL's in the train line for tips on building
modern freight cars, but sometimes building yourself is more fun.
Model Rating
It looks good as a display, or running next to a SFSC on parallel tracks. The
only thing is that the handrails make you want to put them on other models,
which is sort of troublesome.
Playability Rating
I could see kids not necassarily "wanting" this set. Sure, you get engineer max
and conductor charlie, but if you compare it to the other sets, I think them,
and the parents would rather have the smaller sets.
Likes/Dislikes
I love the sets with a lot of pieces, I believe building is one of the best
parts. The only goofy part is there is no interior, like an engine to see
through the doors. That will probalby be the only modification I do.

Scale
I'd go with mini-fig scale, but in reality the trains should be a lot wider,
compared to the gauge.

Errors
Yes, the construction of the set on the box. In the instructions the front
overhang part is similar to the rear, but in the box art and web site, the
Yellow 2x6 plate is 1/3 stud too high. But it is no problem really.
Extra Elements
Yeah, there are some pieces, because of wanting to hook up a motor or a light,
but the instructions tell you all the pieces needed for a step, and you can go
from there.

CONCLUSION
Yes i would. If my layout was bigger, I would consider buying a few more. The
part i was disappointed with was only one number for the stickers. Maybe they'll
make the same engine in different colors, I know I would buy the kit then.
