Bill, the marketing guy, bursts into the designers room, about one year ago.
-"Say, Mary, I saw your concept model of the World City rescue helicopter. It's
a truely great design!"
-"I thought so," Mary says calmy, without looking up from her work desk.
-"This will really get us back on track. New directions, back to basics, only
the best is good enough and stuff."
-"That's the idea", says Mary, remaining focused on the brick assembly on her
desk.
-"And above all, your concept holds a lot of promises for even better
improvement still on top bonus!"
-"Gathered that (sigh)".
-"You see, we have to consider the price banding, easy build funxperience and
icon coherence."
Mary just concentrates on sticking a technic pin into a brick.
-"I mean, we should keep it simple", Bill explains.
-I hear you, Mary says to herself.
-"There are so many details on this set which don't add to its grab value and
only burden the visual Gestalt of it all. For starters, let's just leave off the
radar dish and the spot light."
-"Navigational necessity", Mary points out, "No point having a chopper if you
can't find the rescue site".
-"How 'bout the boom and the drop line?"
-"Would you land a chopper on heavy waters?"
-"The bouy and bouy container?"
-"Would you want to lose track of the site in a storm?"
-"Cradle?"
-"Wounded people?"
-"Cabinets?"
-"Storing hoist equipment"
-"Two pilots?"
-"That's what rescue operations need."
-"We can at least scrap the wheels, they won't even show on the package!"
-"You don't want our toys to scratch surfaces, do you?"
-"If you're this inconsiderate and don't support our marketing policy, there may
be serious consequences", Bill cries out desperately.
-"Such as?", Mary asks.
-"The set may have to be targeted up to a dollar higher on the price band!"
-"Well, you guys do that all the time, don't you?", Mary sighs relieved,
returning her attention to her desk.
