Re: Instructions for Mobile Message Decoder

(...) It's not as bad as in photography, but the human eye has its limitations too - they just aren't as limiting as those of film. (...) Make them several images and use HTML to lay them out? Shouldn't be too hard to come up with 10 images (one per (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish.html)

Re: Instructions for Mobile Message Decoder

(...) Yes- tweaking with the colors would probably be very helpful. I believe that MLCAD lets you do this. I'm confused about the "darker background" comment though. At least one other person mentioned this. I can certainly understand that another (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish.html)

Re: Instructions for Mobile Message Decoder

(...) There's not enough contrast within the black pieces. On my monitor it just looks like one large black POOP rather than several black pieces stuck together. LEGO uses a dark grey in their instructions, with a heavy black line to show the (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish.html)

Re: Instructions for Mobile Message Decoder

(...) Yes- I'm thinking that I'll do web versions that are optimized for browsing, and a downloadable zip of a more printable version. I'll have to keep the zips off of my site, though. These instructions are about 1Mb total (if I'm recalling (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish.html)

Re: Instructions for Mobile Message Decoder

(...) Yes, that's a hard problem. I really would like numbers, but have yet to find an easy way to do good-looking numbers and have them positioned well. (...) I agree- but MLCAD doesn't easily do this. Would LDraw be better? (...) On anything but a (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish.html)

Re: Instructions for Mobile Message Decoder

(...) Hey- those look pretty darn good! I'll investigate this. The extra shadows from the lighting are still somewhat distracting, but that may be worth it. Thanks! -- Tony Hafner www.hafhead.com (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish.html)

Re: Instructions for Mobile Message Decoder

(...) Wow- I didn't realize there was a setting for this. I'll check it out. (...) MLCAD has a picture-generation dialog (there's an icon on the toolbar of a camera to bring it up). It lets you choose a few different options. I'm using this to (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish.html)

Re: Instructions for Mobile Message Decoder

(...) Don't go off haf-cocked, now! (...) I'm considering keeping the current scheme for the web-based version, and doing a set of the same renders at much higher dpi (300?). These files would have the same physical size and filenames. The existing (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.publish.html)

Re: Instructions for Mobile Message Decoder

Very nice! I could follow almost every step. Some suggestions: 1) As others have said, use numbers rather than arrows. 2) On some steps, the scale was too small, and I had trouble seeing exactly what bricks had been added. It's better to keep the (...) (23 years ago, 7-Jan-02, to lugnet.space, lugnet.cad, lugnet.publish.html)
