I recently received an e:mail from Dr. Ilana Hopfeld, WEIZMANN INSTITUTE OF
SCIENCE, Rehovot 76100, Israel, Department of Science Teaching.
"As a member of the Science Teaching Department at The Weizmann Institute of
Science, I have been engaged in a nonprofit project of writing a concise
Hebrew teaching materials in Chemistry. Naturally, models are major
subjects dealt with.
We would like to have your permission to include in our teaching materials
the picture that appear in your web site:
http://www.geocities.com/WestHollywood/9172/downtown/dt-left.jpg
One way which we would like to use for the implementation of the teaching
of chemistry in high school is the use of the powerful medium of the
internet. This site will be in Hebrew. We believe that by using the
internet teachers from all over the country will have access to additional
information by which the subject will be presented in a lively form.
The subject that we are dealing with is how to explain the world around us,
What is the Universe made from, and how you would answer this question if
you were an ancient Greek. For this purpose, we teach the concept of
models, and to explain what a model is we would like to use your picture.
Needless to say that there is no profit involve in this
procedure. We are planning to give credit to the authors in the footnote to
the figure."
I look forward to seeing how they actually use the photo requested.
