In fact, try here

http://dir.yahoo.com/Business_and_Economy/Companies/Internet_Services/Web_Services/Hosting/Free_Web_Pages/

(could this be a FAQ, along with why getting a web site is a good thing
(compared to trying to post binaries here, which is automatically
disallowed by the server, or on RTL, which will get you flamed) ? )

Geocities and Xoom spring to mind.

Try going to Yahoo, inputting Free Web Site into the main search box and
seeing what you get.

(...) Thanks for the help, I'm seriously considering one. Gotta wait for my parents to get home to see what they think before I jump into it. (25 years ago, 16-Jul-99, to lugnet.cad.dat.models, lugnet.publish, lugnet.faq)

(...) Free Web page FAQqage on .off-topic.geek, maybe? MIME attachment policy is handled in the LUGNET Terms of Service, right? But then, the TOS itself could be a FAQ item... Cheers, - jsproat (25 years ago, 17-Jul-99, to lugnet.publish, lugnet.faq)
