Is it the End of Creations Rotule's website ?

Hi folks (URL) basically asking you people if I should maintain my website for the community or not. Over the years, my website has had many different orientations until I finally fount its true calling: humour, posters and of course, the Minifig (...)   Re: Web Host Concept

(...) Na, it's more than a mere difference of opinion. You're setting yourself up for failure. You may not care about that and that's your perogative but I prefer to give my business to outfits that I think have enough of a grasp of economics that (...) (21 years ago, 1-Nov-03, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Web Host Concept

(...) Well, then, in that case...can we agree to disagree? :) If you want to carry on privately that's fine but I don't really want to start a debate. You see the system as unfair, I ask "who wouldn't pass up hosting that starts at $4 and only gets (...) (21 years ago, 31-Oct-03, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Web Host Concept

(...) That's my exact point. It is not fair for me to get something for nothing. Not fair to everyone else who is now paying MORE than they ought to have to. Either you get this concept, or you don't. In this scheme, you are setting yourself up for (...) (21 years ago, 31-Oct-03, to lugnet.publish)

At 10:46 AM 10/31/2003, Larry Spoke Thus: (...) Yes. BUT... If the payment was done on a resource-consumption basis, the guy like you that chokes out a gigabyte or two of bandwidth each month would be paying much, much more than the small price you (...)   Re: Web Host Concept

(...) Why equally split? Suppose I have a high traffic site that hosts movies and therefore consumes lots of bandwidth. Why should I get to pay the same as some guy who hosts a few highly compressed gifs and doesn't get a lot of traffic. Very unfair (...)   Re: Web Host Concept

(...) Lol. Two points: Space isn't the biggest issue. I have a few other web spaces I could split content about if I needed to. The main problem is the ads. I _hate_ ads. The only thing that drives me nuts faster than neon text on a black (...) (21 years ago, 31-Oct-03, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Web Host Concept

I'm unconvinced as to why you'd need this. Plenty of people provide free hosting, for example I bet your ISP does. Now the space available on these sites is limited but then the majority of the large stuff on your site would actually be on (...) (21 years ago, 31-Oct-03, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Web Host Concept

(...) Yes. The difference is that MOCPages (which is a great service!) does not allow you to create your own website. You can upload photos and write descriptions but that's as far as it goes. I'm envisioning three stages to this now: Stage 1: (...) (21 years ago, 31-Oct-03, to lugnet.publish)

  Re: Web Host Concept

(...) This is pretty similar to the idea of MOCPages, except that MOCPages is free? In general, it's a good idea, and I like it :) Some technical problems I can see, but probably nothing that can't be figured out. (21 years ago, 31-Oct-03, to lugnet.general, lugnet.publish, lugnet.animation)

  Web Host Concept

If this doesn't belong in .general, feel free to just direct it to .publish. As some of you may know, Brinkster.com, which is where I and many other LEGO builders host our websites, has recently announced that it will be adding advertisments to its (...)   FTX courtesy to NNTP

As more of a newsreader user, incorrectly formatted FTX code on LUGNET has been troubling me lately. Non NNTP users might not realize, but FTX code formatted like the link below is a pain for NNTP users to just click on and be directed to you link (...)   Re: Virtual LEGO now available!

(...) Ordering direct from No Starch was fairly painless (so far ;) and it should be here in a week or so according to the email I recieved late last week. I'll be taking it along to the next BUGs meeting if it arrives in time, so there may be an (...) (21 years ago, 27-Oct-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.books, lugnet.publish, FTX)

  Re: Virtual LEGO now available!

(...) I need to get off my butt and pass along some info so the Australian clubs can bulk order them. Though as I recall, I'm waiting for something to be finalized from the publisher - I'll check up on that. The Australian distributor ordered very (...)   Re: Virtual LEGO now available!

(...) Well, based on that, I think Virtual Lego is the one for me. I checked availability here in Australia at the local book shop today. There is one copy in the whole of Australia, and it's SEVENTY NINE DOLLARS!! (about US$55). I ended up ordering (...) (21 years ago, 22-Oct-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.books, lugnet.publish, FTX)

  Re: Virtual LEGO now available!

(...) Thanks, Neils! Glad you enjoy the book so far! I wish I could have been in Zwolle with you all. :-\ But, there's always next year! -Tim (21 years ago, 21-Oct-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.books, lugnet.publish, FTX)

  Re: Virtual LEGO now available!

I bought a copy yesterday at LegoWorld Zwolle. The price was only 31 Euro's instead of 40 USD + shipping costs. Actually they were all sold out and a new delivery was a bit delayed, but Jaco was kind enough to give me his copy ;-) On my way home by (...)   Re: Virtual LEGO now available!

(...) Not that I want to rub salt in it or anything, but that's not entierly true either. Bying just one book has a s&h fee of $8.98 while bying a combo is $13.49 (to Sweden). You did save $4.47 though :) Not to mention how much cheaper it got *not* (...) (21 years ago, 16-Oct-03, to lugnet.cad, lugnet.books, lugnet.publish)

  Re: Virtual LEGO now available!

  Re: Virtual LEGO now available!

(...) Actually, this isn't true, and is a very good example of deceptive advertising on Amazon's part. Add up Amazon's price for the two books individually, and you get the same price they list there. The "discount" is off the standard list price, (...)
