Your reasons are spot on. I was just pouncing on the fact that you said you
wanted to get in touch with "the site". You don't. You want to get in touch
with the *author* of the site, or the owner of the site (which may not be the
same entity in all cases).
Sites are not people, nor are they corporations, hence one cannot "get in
touch" with them and one cannot seek to secure reproduction rights *from
sites*. One has to contact the owner of the site, be it a person or a
corporation, to get reproduction permission, which one should whenever
possible and practical.
If you still don't get what I am getting on about, never mind. I wish you the
best of luck in your endeavour. If I had time I'd consider authoring something
for you, but I do not.
