The Spring 2006 passholder newsletter “Brick By Brick” says the following:

“Unfortunately, due to international production issues, the 2006 Commemorative Brick series has been suspended until further notice”

It says you can sign up for further updates at http://www.Legoland.com/passmember

As you may have guessed I am not exactly happy with this news ;)

These are my thoughts - I know they were not happy with how much it costs to make the bricks and wanted to “lower costs” on it by moving the production facility to China but that really messed everything up big time. I HOPE they are taking this time to move the production back to where it was that was actually getting them the bricks.

I see it like this, if they wanted to cut the costs they could have done one of two things:

1) Make about half of what they were making. Really they were making about 10,000 - 20,000 (with most runs being closer to 20,000) PER BRICK. They were ALWAYS had thousands and thousands left over after the time period of giving them out. All they needed to make was prob about 10,000 bricks and that would have been PLENTY. But they insisted on making and paying for much more than they needed for years.

2) Charge for the bricks. I know - this would suck... but something like 50 cents a brick (about how much it would cost if you got it by pound) is a good price and would still turn them a profit. This would make the program pay for itself with no problems and they could still make the 20,000 run of each brick :)

I dunno - those two options seem simple to me, I hope Valerie reads Lugnet or the forums on Promobricks ;)

I do hope the program makes a QUICK return, I see no reason for it not to. It has become a very popular program at the park and just keep growing in popularity.

(...) Well, between that and the price of gas, there's no reason for me to be a LLCA passmember anymore. Darrell (18 years ago, 22-Apr-06, to lugnet.legoland.california, lugnet.promo, FTX)
