I’ve been expanding the Grand Armie of the South Pacifique, and developing some
heavy artillery. Whilst building limbers, I discovered I could fit a five-wide
seat between large carriage wheels. While this was all well and good for the
Grand Armie, Port Brique has been crying out for some civilian land transport
for some time. It’s a prosperous place these days, and people have been
complaining about having to walk from place to place.
So I’ve built some civilian transport (although the large carriage has been
hired by the Brikkish Ambassador, and he’s using the Port Brick Regiment to man
it)...
I’ve built three styles so far:
Hansom-style cab

Surrey

The cab and the surrey are based on the limber from Fort Legoredo, with 1x1
round plates being used to anchor a 3x2 plus 2x2 plate between 2x1 (or 4x1)
panels, and a 1x4 tile. At the right height, this fits the 5x2 seat between the
rims. You can see the technique in these pics of the surrey:

The carriage is a bit more complex, and significantly more fragile (but not
too fragile). It is basically a five-wide construction anchored to four wide
axles. Some articulation of the front axle is possible.
The underside, showing the change from four wide/five wide construction. The 2x2 turntable, and the rear 1x4 axle are attached using 2x1 tiles with one stud.
