I was wondering if there were any good sites on-line with plans for merchant
brigs. I was thinking about trying to build one between now and the cruise

I dont know of any. Id suggest working from pictures instead, I used pictures
of the HMBrig Supply when I build the
HMLBrig Demand. Given that you
have to end up straightening out a lot of the curves anyway, Im not sure that
having plans on hand would make things that much easier. Although, of course,
everything might be labelled.

and Id also like to get a better idea of the name of the sails and such
before I go
aboard. Ive been reading the trinity of Age of Sail nautical fiction
(Forrester, OBrian, and Kent) but the names of the rigging and sails has not
really stuck in my head well. Thanks for any help you can give me!

Theres an informative page
here which has a
nice sail plan of a four masted barque. Just make allowances for the absence of
the two aft masts...
