At last, a British vessel of note in the waters of Port Brique!!

His Majesty's Navy reaches every corner of the globe... eventually.

Sailing into Port Brique harbour late one April morning in 1803, the
sloop-of-war Intractable under the command of Commander Reginald
Stalwart-Hope was a fine sight.

1803? Going to be leaving in a hurry, is she? : )

News travels slowly in 1803...

I'm not much good with numbers ;-), so I thought I'd set Port Brique 200
years ago and leave it at that...

Locals commented that it would have been a much finer sight if the
shipspotters hadn't recently witnessed the arrival of the Misérable... but
still, any three-master is worthy of comment.

*Every* British ship is a *wonderous* sight to behold. : )

As Mrs Palmier, resident of Port Brique said to Commander Stalwart-Hope:
"You came in that? You're braver than I thought." :-)

A quick pic of the HMLS Intractable is here:

Or you can read a bit more about this vessel here:

Another handsome ship -- augmented by the fact that she's actually British : )

Of course, the ship builders of Port Brique have been looking with interest
at this sloop. More vessels, though not quite the size of the Intractable
(let alone the Misérable!) can be expected in the next few weeks.

The interest may have been along the lines of "three masts... hmmm"

Whaa? French stealing lines from English ships? That's unthinkable... I
mean, really, all the best British ships were stolen from French lines! I
suppose all's fair and all that... : )

Stealing lines? Maybe lines... and halyards, and arms, and...

More and more shipping. I have one more exam, then I'm going to have to
finish the masts for Lady Grace. Brickley's Cove must have more ships! What
of a gundeck... or a spar deck... hmm...

Hope the exam goes well for you - best of luck with the Lady Grace too!

Cheers

Richie Dulin
