Re: What Pirate sets , in your mind , should be part of the Legends line?

(...) Hey Bruce , I created this thred asking people what Pirates sets they think would be part of the Legends line. They want "Enchanted Island?" Fine with me. I just wanted to know everyone's honest opinion. (23 years ago, 15-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Pirate Game Questions

(...) I'd be inclined to say do it at Step 7. The only thing between Step 7 and Step 1 is shark activity. It just means you lose one turn of swimming away from sharks if you suddenly find yourself in the water as the ship goes down. (...) In (...) (23 years ago, 15-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  RE: Pirate Game Questions

Thanks for all the help/suggestions. I have been pouring over the rules for hull/rigging damage to give them a fair shot. I have just a few more questions... :-) Hull Damage - I'm pretty down with this now, except for *when* you roll for possible (...) (23 years ago, 15-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

Re: What Pirate sets , in your mind , should be part of the Legends line?

I didn't start this thread because it is such a given that the Black Sea Barracuda, Skull's Eye Schooner, Imperial Trading Post, and El Dorado Fortress are the obvious Legends. Certainly the early two big ships rank up there amongst the finest kits (...) (23 years ago, 15-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

What Pirate sets , in your mind , should be part of the Legends line?

As everyone should know by now , unless you've been living under a rock , the classic Castle set "Guarded Inn" is to be rereleased on Shop at Home sold under the new "LEGO Legends" line. Over at .castle we were discussing what castle sets to be (...) (23 years ago, 14-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Sail Making..was: Big Thunder

(...) Hi Sean, I wanted to say that the liquid stiffener I use has never shown any problems with becoming brittle! I have some sails that are over a year old and they aren't brittle. A nice feature of the liquid is that you can vary the (...) (23 years ago, 14-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Sail Making..was: Big Thunder

Steve Burge wrote in message ... (...) Diluted yellow carpenters glue works well. Dilute about 6:1 water:glue, slosh fabric in it, allow to dry, then iron smooth. Can be washed several times before you need to re-stiffen it, and can be ironed in (...) (23 years ago, 14-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Sail Making..was: Big Thunder

I kinda thought that starching 'em would work... Anyone tried that? Steve (23 years ago, 13-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Sail Making..was: Big Thunder

(...) Hi Guys, There's another method of sailmaking that's a little less messy than the liquid stiffener. My wife (the costumer) introduced me to "Heat and Bond" which is a lot like patching material. It should be available at a craft or fabric (...) (23 years ago, 13-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Sail Making..was: Big Thunder

(...) Good to know, but sadly I won't be able to make it. I was hoping to, but a family emergency last week sucked up my vacation time. Does she have a web page or some such that shows her work? (or should I be more proactive and look before I ask? (...) (23 years ago, 13-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Sail Making..was: Big Thunder

(...) <snipped> (...) Tom - That's great info. Thanks for explaining it. It'll be some time before I get around to it (I think) but I'll be sure to post then. :) Joel J (23 years ago, 13-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Pirate Game Questions

OK, a few of these have already been answered so I'll only answer the ones I have a contribution for... (...) Depends... It says in the rules to ignore the placing of figures during ship-to-ship combat (i.e. the captain doesn't need to be by a (...) (23 years ago, 13-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Pirate Game Questions

(...) Hmmm, I put the grapeshot question to Mr. Jackson in the following exhange: SB: Why is there a -6 to hit with Grapeshot - it fires out of the cannon in a cone, so it's pretty hard to miss at close-ranges. Wouldn't a harsher range-modifier be (...) (23 years ago, 13-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Pirate Game Questions

(...) <re-ordering...> (...) Hopefully Steve will chime in also (Steve are you there?). You may also want to e-mail Steve directly. Some general thoughts: - Note that the game was developed as a game mastered game, so the rules have some (...) (23 years ago, 13-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Pirate Game Questions

(...) Hmmmm, well, I handled cannon fire during ship movement, then resolved minifig combat. Part of this is answered below. (...) Yes. (...) No. The purpose is to allow you to change course based on the events as they stood at the end of the (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Pirate Game Questions

I have a few more pirate game questions for those of you with more experience.. 1. It says all damage is simultaneous during combat. Does that mean ALL combat, or each type of combat? For instance, if a pirate is shot by a cannon, does he still get (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Cutter pictures

(...) "Emergency Cutters." Heh. "Arrrr...that thar be an emergency cutter." "How kin ye tell, Cap'n?" "She be orange n' yellow, with flashin' lights...arrrr." (...) Belville boats were a bit on the comical side. :) Not that bumblebee-themed cutters (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Cutter pictures

(...) Mine are in such a shambles from my battle-damage happy son that I need to rebuild them. They look different from the 6277 cutters, so I'll see if I can get to them this weekend. Bruce (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Re: Cutter pictures

(...) I basically have just built the standard 6277 cutter. I did do one using the 4 wide space ship hulls. Oh, and then there were the emergency cutters, all of which you've already seen, but to call out a couple pictures: Here's a decent shot of (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)

  Cutter pictures

I have a favor to ask of everybody: could you guys post some links to pictures of cutters? The only things I have been able to find so far are Frank Filz's Sea Wolves and the pictures from the Pirate Game at Brickfest. I have recently built some (...) (23 years ago, 12-Jun-01, to lugnet.pirates)
