Yes, I think it's just me.
There was a conversation a while back as to whether
I'm just lucky or whether there's something that
makes these FOTWs leap out at me (a la SW sets at
85% off not one month after their introduction, etc).
It may be luck, but perhaps I'm just a lucky fellow.
Today, it was 6289, the Red Beard Runner. I am now
the proud owner of *three* of the darn things--well,
okay, counting the one that's back in Michigan. I
found two MISB examples at the Vroom & Dreesman here
in Leiden, three weeks after I'd looked and *swore*
I saw nothing of interest. Today, I was scooting
around, and suddenly spotted the purple boxes. Joy!
RBRs with shooting cannon! They must have been
waiting for me.
As for me, I only want one, but figured I'd buy both
and ask US$90 plus shipping from the Netherlands [1] if
someone here wants one--if not, it'll go to eBay,
but I'd rather it go to a real .pirates person. That
taken with last week's find of a little Shell set that
includes a brown Soldier backpack...well, let's just
say that without any real effort, things have already
been quite good.
I'm pleased as punch at finding these-I wanted a second,
and this one has shooting cannon besides! Now I'm all
fired up to go bicycling tomorrow and looking for deals.
(I'll have you know that dragging two 6289s through a
city centre on a bicycle is something just barely this
side of torture, however.) Hmmm...now, to find a 6277...
giddily/gaily,

[1]I'd estimate shipping to the US at $30, to Australia/
NZ/Asia at $40, given that this is probably in the 5-10
kg category. The charge goes down ~1/3 if I eliminate the box,
thus saving weight. The $90 is about what I paid for the sets.)

| (...) Hee hee..... A longer description of your adventure(with pics depicting it in lego form, perhaps?) would be much appreciated! Adrick (24 years ago, 3-Oct-00, to lugnet.pirates)
