Anakin needed someone to race against, so I built a Pirate-themed podracer. I
can't put pictures of my MOCs online, but I will describe it. The engines are
similar to Anakin's (meaning much more than Sebulba's or Gasgano's). While
Anakin has yellow banana-peel flaps, the Pirate Podracer uses, of course, large
palm leaves. I had to use black Technic friction pegs instead of click hinges,
so the engines are quite bulky. Oh well, the leaves hide most of it anyway.
The engines connect to the pod using two flag poles, two chains, and some red
plates. Its kind of flimsy, but it does a good enough job for me. And
podracers are kind of fragile, considering how often I destroyed mine playing
Podracing on Nintendo 64! The pod itself is unfortunately a little brown
pre-built boat that came in so many Pirate sets. It has a black treasure
chest, a parrot, and an Islander pilot in it. And that's my Pirates
Podracer. Can you picture it? I will be photographing this one some day soon,
so maybe years from now it will show up on the internet. Has anyone else built
some Podracers based on other themes? I want to do a Castle one next, but
since Star Wars does have a lot of Castleish parts I'll have to be careful to
make it look odd enough!
