Thanks for the encouragement!
Yes, I created the mustache-goatee-vandykes. I drew them on regular smiling LEGO
heads using a Sharpie. (Sharpies are permanent markers that draw on most
surfaces. Many poeple use them to label CDs.)
There were a few minifigs with Goatees, mostly in Pirate sets:

Unfortunately for my purposes, they tend to have lots of stubble and angry
eyebrows. Either that or a curly handlebar mustache, which would be cool but I
don't know if I could grow one!
