To All,

It has been a pretty rough week on me, and I thought, since some of you
know already, to make a general announcement. AEI, Affiliated Engineers,
Inc., has decided to close the Ann Arbor, Michigan office, where I work.
Since this office started here back in 1995 or so, their main goal was to
provide building facility engineering to the Big Three, Ford, GM, and
Chrysler. Unfortunately, we never really had a lot of work from them,
outside of a large engine test cell facility at the Ford complex in
Dearborn, and some buildings at the GM Milford Proving Grounds. We have not
been very busy in the last year, and I had a feeling something was up, with
all the closed door meetings and phone calls from the principals of the
company.

Fortunately, they did offer me to relocate to another AEI office, which is
very generous, IMO. I have the option of going to our main office in
Madison, Wisconsin, or to a new office located in Rockville, Maryland. I
have to opportunity to do the same thing in terms of admin of the computer
system  in Rockville, but I am not thrilled with going there either. I am
also looking around Michigan for a position as well. My last place would be
South Bend, Indiana, where my wife and I would like to be when she finishes
school next year. I have many doors open and options to me right now, and I
am hoping that a few would close and I can see where it will be. I am rather
anxious and nervous at the same time.

Either way, I will still be gainfully employed, and whatever comes about, I
am happy I had the opportunity to work at AEI. My straight sales webpage,
http://www.sanburnsystems.com , will still be open, and I am going to have
an updated inventory within the next day, and I will continue to work on
that wherever I end up.

Well, I thought I would post that so you all would know, and I thank
everyone for their support of my webpage, and to Todd, for making LUGNET
feel like a community, in which I am glad I am a part of.

Scott S.

(...) Good luck with the change. I am due to start a new job soon, after looking half-heartedly for almost a year, so I too know what the stress is like - especially when one is married. Just remember that home is always where your heart is. Scott (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jul-00, to lugnet.people)

(...) Well, if you do end up moving to Rockville, you'll be in prime AFOL country! Wamalug would be more than happy to have you! :) (and I live about 20-30 minutes from there, in Silver Spring!) (...) wow! What a coincidence! I have family living (...) (24 years ago, 20-Jul-00, to lugnet.people)
