Interesting...

But this is what really bothers me.
I can see the World Trade Center being taken-out, but not the Pentagon?!?

Isn't there a -'no-fly-zone'- surrounding this area and the White House?
I mean, where are all the response jets.
(Not even an active counter measure was initiated at the time.)
Yes, I've heard that F-16 were dispatched later on, but aren't their units
designed for rapid response for any intrusion into this specialized
government area.
Not even a military Helicopter on a near by landing pad attempted to intercept.
Surely an Apache/Cobra (or whatever) could have sprung into action and used
its mini guns to disable the commercial jet?

Nope--the Pentagon is on the approach corridor to Reagan
airport.  It's close enough, anyways, that there's too little
time between deviation from the corridor to impact.  The jet's
moving about 300mph--it takes time to scramble a fighter/
  gunship.

Also, consider the difficulty of making a call like that--
shooting down an airliner with 70+ people on it?

There is a no fly zone direcly above the pentagon, "class B airspace" the
highest level of restricted air.  the plane getting shot down would/ could
have saved a few lives, maybe not the passengers, but people on the ground.

It’s easy to engage an external threat to Washington.
(Missile or foreign attack squadron coming over seas.)
But I guess any local passenger jets pose a real problem…

See above.  They're allowed to fly there--it's not like it's
a jet with foreign markings.  It's also full of Americans,
which makes shooting it down the last resort among last
  resorts.

Once everyone talks about Terrorism they think of foreign invaders.
BUT, what if these attackers were from an internal group.
Similar to the events of Oklahoma.
Just a lugubrious thought.      :(

This is what I said.  I've already begun hearing reports from
NYC of random violence against people believed to be "the enemy".
